GARY TREVISIOL

Inducted: 2020

A member of the Canadian Olympic team at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles, cyclist Gary Trevisiol has also qualified for the 1980 Games in Moscow, prior to Canada joining the boycott of the event. Taking to the sport in his early teens, Trevisiol rose to prominence quickly, crowned as Canadian Junior champion just a few years later (1976) and attending World Juniors in Austria the next summer.

Though he began his cycling career with road races, it was a move indoors that would propel him to international success. “From being primarily on the road, I ended up being on the track team, which, for Canada, was the four man team pursuit,” said Trevisiol. “We did a lot of the same events, but not the stage races. Thankfully, the early season training was very similar – a lot of riding, a lot of miles on the bike.”
