A passionate young soccer player in his youth, Brian Ashton would become the first soccer from north of Parry Sound to crack a men’s national team roster, doing so with the U17 (1991), U20 (1992) and U23 (1994) squads. He would go on to play seven years professionally with the Toronto Lynx, eventually returning home and launching Northern Soccer Academy before accepting the head coaching position with the Laurentian Voyageurs’ women’s soccer team.
