Doug Bonhomme

Not just dad to 2010 Olympic champion, Tessa, Doug Bonhomme has enjoyed and played virtually every role possible in hockey. A player, coach, scout and hockey dad, Doug attended Clarkson University and graduated with a business degree in 1977.

Notable Highlights:

  • Scored three goals in 37 seconds in high-school hockey
  • Coached the Sudbury Lady Wolves intermediates for three years with seven of his players earning NCAA hockey scholarships
  • Played on the 1969 Sudbury Police midget team that lost to Rick Middleton and the Weston Dodgers in Ontario final
  • Coached Cambrian College to four provincial championships, three national silvers, and in 1997, gold at the Canadian Collegiate championships
  • Coached and volunteered in local minor hockey in Sudbury
  • Worked for OHL Central Scouting for 38 years covering Northern Ontario district

Miscellaneous: Doug is a retired WSIB worker and the eldest of seven children who grew up in Carol Richard Park in Sudbury. He and his wife, Debbie, have two daughters and four grandchildren. These days, Doug turns his passion for sport to downhill skiing, road cycling and hot power yoga.
