One of the very best swimmers the city has ever produced, Jennifer Campbell-Michel was already breaking national age group records when she transitioned from NOAC (Northern Ontario Aquatic Club) to the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club. Upon arrival, she proceeded to deliver a seven medal performance at the Canada Summer Games, paving the way for a stretch of excellence that would see her represent Canada at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane (Australia) and earn an NCAA scholarship with the LSU (Louisiana State University Tigers), Campbell-Michel stepped back from the sport after narrowly missing on qualifying for the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Campbell-Michel would go on to later swim at the masters level, remaining involved for another quarter century or so.
