
A member of the 4 X 100 metre gold medal winning Canadian relay team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Robert Esmie has enjoyed a career in track and field that has included impressive accomplishments on the track, as well as his move to coaching once his racing days were done.
Moving to Sudbury from Jamaica when he was still attending elementary school, Esmie is a two-time world champion (1995 and 1997) and was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2008 along with his Olympic teammates Glenroy Gilbert, Bruny Surin and Donovan Bailey.
